Tips to Keep Energy Costs Under Control This Winter With warmer weather gone and colder temperatures arriving, saving energy this winter in Northwest Arkansas doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. By using a few tips, such as sealing air leaks, covering windows and maintaining your heating system, you can lower energy costs.

Utilize Natural Heat

Open the drapes, blinds or curtains during the day to let the sun to enter your home, providing natural heat.
Covering your windows at night will help keep out unwanted cold air.

Seal Up Drafty Windows

Place heavy-duty plastic on the outside of your windows or clear plastic on the inside to seal out air leaks.
Use insulated shades or drapes to reduce the chill around your windows.

Check the Temperature

Adjusting your thermostat to a comfortable level while you’re awake and at home will help cut energy costs.
Dialing down the temperature 10 degrees while you’re asleep or away can also provide energy savings.
Use a programmable thermostat for easy control of your heating system.

Seal Air Leaks
