Get Insider Secrets From Paschal Heating, Air & Geothermal And Find Out If Your Heating System Will Last Another Season

Get Insider Secrets From Paschal Heating, Air & Geothermal And Find Out If Your Heating System Will Last Another SeasonHere at Paschal Heat, Air & Geothermal, we’ve been serving customers in northwest Arkansas for more than 40 years. We’ve seen a lot of heating systems come and go, which gives us a good idea of how to tell if a system will last another season.

Here’s some of our best advice on deciding if you should repair or replace your heating system:

Reliability

If your heating system can’t be relied on to work when you need it to, then it’s time for a replacement. Unreliable systems break down often, usually when they’re needed most, and cost more than they’re worth to keep operating. If you’ve spent 50 percent of the value of your heating system on repairs, then consider getting a new and more reliable unit.

Efficiency

Check your heating bills for unexpected and unexplained increases. These could mean your system has lost efficiency, using more fuel to heat your home. It could also mean it has developed energy leaks somewhere within the system or ductwork, wasting money and fuel. Inefficient furnaces are expensive to operate and have a greater possibility of failing during high-demand times.

Age

Older units are more likely to fail, and the older the heating system the higher the chance of a catastrophic breakdown. In general, if your heat pump is over ten years old, or if your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old, it could be time for a replacement.

Overall Condition

A heating system in generally good condition is likely to keep working, no matter its age. A system that has developed noises or loud operation, that has older components, or that runs harder or more frequently than usual is showing sings of upcoming failure.
