Is a Ductless Mini Split System Right for Your Home?

Is a Ductless Mini Split System Right for Your Home?Ductless mini split system heat pumps are ideal for areas where the installation or extension of ductwork is not feasible. They are also a good choice for homes that only require a small space air conditioning system.

As with all HVAC systems, ductless mini split systems have both advantages and disadvantages. You will need to determine whether a ductless mini split system is the best choice for your home.

Why should I install a ductless mini split system?

  • They are very flexible with regard to the heating and cooling of individual rooms.
  • There can be as many as four indoor units that are connected to one outdoor compressor or condenser.
  • Each indoor unit can be controlled with its own thermostat.
  • The system is easy to install.
  • The variety of lengths of connecting conduits that are available, allows you to position the outdoor compressor or condenser in a suitable spot.
  • There are no energy losses associated with the ductwork as compared to the losses suffered by central air conditioning systems.
  • You can decide where you want to place the indoor air conditioning units. It can be fixed to the wall or suspended from the ceiling.

What are the drawbacks of a ductless mini split system?

  • It can cost more to install than normal systems.
  • Experienced contractors need to determine the correct size and best location for each indoor unit.
  • Not all professional HVAC contractors are qualified to install ductless mini split systems.

Installing a ductless mini split system can help you save energy and reduce your energy bills. It is important to contact an experienced and qualified HVAC contractor to assist you with advice on the available systems and to help you decide whether it is the right choice for your home.
